Feingold Smackdown!!
Blogging from work so this will be short and sweet.
Sometime this morning Senator Feingold stormed out of the Judiciary Committee meeting after the committee voted to send the anti-Gay Marriage Amendment to the full Senate for a vote.
According to the report Senator Feingold's decision to leave was met with the gnashing of the teeth of Senator Spector who concluded by saying "Good riddance," to which Senator Feingold retorted "See ya."
This is yet another example of how Senator Feingold is showing leadership at a time when Democrats are completely ambivalent about what they should do, or how they should do it. Furthermore, Senator Feingold takes this stand in public and in front of an unreceptive crowd (or at best marginally receptive). He does not wait until he is in front of political allies to speak out against injustice, unlike some other "leaders" of the Demcoratic Party.
One final update, see the comments to the post below for details on Senator Feingold's trip to Washington State this weekend. Unfortunately he's not visiting Southwest Washington where I live, but the folks in Seattle are in for a treat I'm sure.
Have a great day folks!
